How do those of you who have done the hobby boss kit think of it altogether?  Is the tooling and fit good?  Better than the Revell kit, if you've done that one before?

I'm working on the GWH 1/48 Widow at the moment and am going through the same issue.  I decided to test a couple of methods using the engine cowlings (Since I could easily sand down and "reset" them if I didn't like the results.  I wanted a chipped/faded look that is common in the pics you see of the widow.  I used the A&K Chipping Effects (Same as the hairspray technique the armor guys use).  I put down Alclad aluminum first, then I used Straight Tamiya semigloss black on one cowling and a mix of 60/40 Semigloss and NATO Black on the other.  I then chipped the paint per the instructions with a stiff brush and some water.  The chipping effect worked nicely, but I wasn't sold on the blacks one was too black and the other too gray.  I would probably start the final painting with the Semigloss and then post shade with NATO black on areas that would be sun-beaten.  The pics that are out there show that the black did not hold up well in the pacific.

Holy Cow your P-61 looks great Agieman. It's one of the best I've seen. Most folks use very dark grey instead of the black with black highlights but i like the way you painted it "in reverse"

When I did the old Monogram kit a few years ago, I mixed some light gray with various shades of brown to produce a color for exhaust stains, then applied at very low PSI through my airbrush. If I can find a picture I will share it.

Here are my pictures:

If I was to build another P-61, I would probably add some chipping and "fade" the black with some lightened black across some of the upper surfaces, pick out some panels like that.

Approaching painting stages and contemplating how best to recreate a weathered black finish on this all black aircraft. Any advise or can anyone point me in a direction of a tutorial.
