Question About Eduard 1/48 P-39 Airacobra Profipack

Thank you all gentlemen! Good to know what to look out for with this kit.

BD, I know all too well about user error and ill fitting parts. But that is what makes it a bit interesting...... right?

I build planes when my ships (my preferred poison), bog down. That way I feel like I am accomplishing something. 

leemitcheltree, thanks for the heads up on the doors and canopy, I'll keep this in mind when I build it.

Nathan, I have never had the opportunity to build a Hasegawa kit yet, so I have no comparison but I have a couple of their kits in the stash. The old 1/72 Emily kit and their Val and Kate in 1/48. Hopefully, I can get and to those but I have a number of other kits in queue right now that have to get finished.

I personally think the Hasegawa kit is 10 times better than the Eduard one. Except for the decals maybe....and the Accurate Miniatures kit is the Eduard mold... this is one of Eduards earlier kits, so I would not fairly compare it too their excellent Hellcat kit

I built one....with all the PE bells and whistles....awesome.

The only downside is the canopies and doors don't fit as well as the rest of the plastic.  That's why most of the ones you see built have both doors open.

In use, the portside door was hardly ever opened because the throttle quadrant made it useless.  So I opened both doors and lived with the slightly undersized canopy.  I'm good with it.

Otherwise.....a fantastic kit that I'd build again in a heartbeat.

I have one of the dual combo kits of this, and I think it may be operator error, but for some reason I got a pretty big gap at the wing root on mine. I shelved it and haven't revisited ityet, but I am planning on building the second one and seeing if it comes out with the same issue, or if it all goes well.

Some boxings come with a white metal piece for nose weight. Mine didn't, but there's plenty of room in there to put weight in, so it's no problem.

If it's anything like the F6F-3 ProfiPac I just picked up, it should be awesome, I was impressed, even the Weekend Edition kits are great.

I have built this one (actually twice, as in I also built the Accurate Miniatures release that did not come with all the PE or the nose weight but was the same mold). It is a great kit. I will say it is the best Cobra kit I have ever done (have not tackled Hasegawa's release).  It goes together easily enough; I don't recall any troubling spots other than many of the PE parts never made it into my build, victims of the so-called carpet monster. 

It comes with all the options for the different nose cannons that the P-39/P-400 carried. I did not fully research that and someone pointed out that I had the wrong style of cannon for the P-400 Cactus Air Force Cobra I built from the Eduard kit. Pay attention to that.

The old Monogram kit is still a great kit as well.
