Don,

As I said I was able to see your top photo and the lower one when I clicked on the link Friday when you posted them. Today I'm seeing a broken link icon for the top and clicking the lower one gives me the same broken link icon. Both of these are on my boss's work computer running Chrome.

I glanced at this thread last night on my own PC running Pale Moon and neither showed up there either.

I'm using Chrome on my tablet and PC, and neither properly displays your images.

I installed Firefox on my tablet, and there are no images.

Pherhaps  a permission setting that needs to be turned on?

Is the image on my early post visible, if so thats using Google Photos.

I can see the picture that damouav posted, but I still don't see yours Don.  I normally use Firefox on an iMac (at work and at home).  I've checked with Safari and Chrome also, but no joy.  Also tried Internet Explorer (11) on a PC but still no pictures.

I've been using Imgur for hosting pics.  Seems to work well for me, but I don't have a lot of images stored there yet so we'll see how it is after the library gets bigger.

Cheers, Mark

Still wondering what is going on.  Some people see pix, others do not.

I am wondering if it could be a browser thing.  Maybe some browsers handle however the FSM forum formats images different than others.  How about a survey here- post whether you can see pix or not, and what browser you use.

Also, until readers and FSM get the image hosting problem figured out, maybe it would be a good idea for everyone who posts images in this forum to say what photo hosting site they use.  In this thread I used Google Photo.

I use the Firefox browser and see all the images I have posted in this thread.

Can't see anything either. Image shack is having a special where modelcrazy got it for $20 a year. I've been using it since I dropped Photosuck 3 years ago.

Don,

I also saw images when you first posted this thread. Now I see just the gray area with the minus sign inside a circle.

I wish I could help but I didn't feel comfortable with Google so I switched to Flickr. I feel that some of these image hosting sites are becoming far less friendly to use and just hope your problems are temporary.

Here's a link that might be of interest:

Neat reference- I did the model as one of that Alaska squadron.

Don, I'm seeing this photo just fine.

The upper one anyhow. The lower one is coming though as a hotlink but by clicking I can get the photo to come up.

And nice work!

That is where I went wrong with Google Photos, pasting the URL as I discovered, doesn't work.

The method I described will, to the best of my knowledge. Look at my Vought Corsair AU1 build WIP and look at the images, these are all Google Photo hosted.

But I am sorry your having such hassels with this Don, you will find the right service that works for you.

I believe I am using the same method you gave in your earlier post to this thread.

Don, Are you manually changing the image aspect ratio when you paste the link data from Google or are you selecting constrain proportions?

Boy, I didn't really pay attention!  I have stopped adding any pics to Google Photo because it doesn't look like the address that the service provides allows everyone to see it.  However, I'll try another upload to see if I can answer your question.  It seems to be a moot point if not everyone can see the pix, though.

When I look at my own pictures- the ones I have uploaded- they seem to look like the proper aspect ratio.

Also, what I paste into the FSM window that results from selecting the image button is the URL- I don't mess with any of the other items in that popup window.

I saw your images just after you posted them and they began to disappear yesterday being replaced with little question marks. Now they are gone. Hey, they looked good when up! When I would click on one the first images they would want me to sign in. I'm still pushing ImageShack. Not too expensive and really high resolution when you click on the pictures.

I don't have a google account but was able to see them when they were first posted.  Even after others said they couldn't see them, I still could.  But now I don't see them.   I think something must have broken on google's end.

That is unfortunately not the case Don, as I too have a Google Photo account and cant see your images either.

When you go to your Album in GP how exactly are you copying the image data?

I go to the specific album (I create an album per build/subject), select the image I wont, this takes you to a slide show view within the album. I then right click the image I require, select "copy image location". This informatiin is then pasted into the insert images here.

I just hope the my images are accessible to all.

I cannot see the photos you posted and I have all kinds of Google accounts, some that cost money. That being said, they are all tied to different email accounts (I have dozens) but I would think Google is better than that. I tried Amazon Photos too, as I have a couple of Prime accounts. No go.

I would guess the issue is at this sites' end, what's allowed in.

So far so good with Fotki @ $ 24 per year.

My guess is that the problem may be that Google Photo only lets people with a Google account view picture requests. This is a shakey request- wouldn't the FSM server be the requesting address?

Anyway, as a diagnostic, let's take a poll- how many of those who CAN see the photos have a Google account?

How many of those who CANNOT see the photo have a Google account?

Hummm!  I wonder if only people who sign up for Google Photos can see the pix!  That would be a problem, and I'd have to find another host (I feel like a parasite, hunting hosts :-)        ).  Too bad the days are long gone when your ISP would give you storage space for your own web site!  I guess I need to find one of those free web site hosting places.

I must say, I am really satisified with Google Photo for hosting my photos.

Since I can't see the pictures either, I'm not at all satisfied!  Big Smile

I don't even get that - just no pictures, pity, Don your builds are usually a sight to see! I'm going to check that from another computer to see if it works. Have a nice day

This looks great!  Nice to see a rare bird like this.  I saw you were having a problem with Alclad and your airbrush, but it looks like you got that fixed.  The NMF looks great.

Cheers, Mark

P-59 photos
Posted by Don Stauffer on Monday, July 17, 2017 10:35 AM

Here are the photos of the Hobbycraft P-49 (1:48) I just finished.  Partly cloudy day- waited for sunlight on some pics- it was partly cloudy on others.

I must say, I am really satisified with Google Photo for hosting my photos.  Goodbye to PB!  BTW, I usually downsample to 1000 pixels wide for uploading, so don't blame google for these not being as sharp as some I used to post- I just get bored waiting for uploading of big images (G Photo seems to have a pretty fast server, though, so I may not do that in future).
