I never use decal solvent or solvaset unless I really need to.  Decal setting solution and decal solvents are two different things.  Try using the setting solution first. If you cannot get it to adhere and nestle down properly with that, only then go to solvent.

However, I sometimes get water marks even with setting solution. I suspect my bench is not always clean enough.  However, I find those watermarks can be removed by water with just a touch of detergent (a very small drop).  I have had good luck too with 70% isopropyl with no damage to enamel or decals.  Have not tried it on acrylics, though.

Once in a while I get some spots after using Solvaset. I use a soft cotton rag dipped in plain water gently rub the stain to get rid of them.

I get water marks with certain decal solvents when I use future as the clear coat.  Solvaset leaves the heaviest marks.  I can get rid of the marks using micro sol or when I spray another coat of future.

I get water marks all the time...I just carry on as usual. They disappear with the final clear coat. Test it out on a spot...spray a little clear (or even brush it on for the test)...it will likely vanish.

I got this problem when I applied the decals onto the aircraft. The decals were applied with warm water and decal softener. When the water and softener dried out, they left stains/marks on the aircraft. I have not experienced this before, so is there anything I can do other than respraying it?
