I was there in 2013 and had the pleasure of meeting Kermit and taking some pics of him and us beside his P-51. He took it up for a few turns around the area with a special friend in the back seat. He got him into the seat easily but they had a little work getting him out. He told us of his plans to use the PBY in the background and set up a 1/1 diorama. The day after we got home, we heard that he closed the place to the public. It was still open for only large group meetings and conferences. He told us he had too many trailers full of projects behind the hangars and too many planes to work on with not enough time to get the work done.
Wish I could post the pics I have. Some day I'll get a program that I can use on this contraption. Got a lot of great shots of the planes in the hangars. Great shots of the P-40 they were working on in the back corner of one of the hangars. It's a great place but there's not enough time to see it all. Takes a few trips (and lots of pics) to cover it.
