Revell B-24 discontinued?
Posted by Ultra on Sunday, July 30, 2017 4:55 AM

Hey everyone,

So I was looking online for the Revell B-24 in 1/48 scale and it's around $500 on Amazon so I looked at the Revell site and didn't see it there.  I can't find it anywhere online so I emailed Revell to confirm if it's still in production.  Then I remembered the HobbLobby had one a month or so ago and if this thing is discontinued I need to swing by there ASAP!

Just checked eBay.  Both revell and monogram versions can be had for around $50.

Don't guide yourself by Amazon prices. You have some really ambitious individuals posting outrageous prices on there.

Just recently I was hunting for the ROG 1/32 Bf109K (ex Hasegawa mold) that pops up on ebay now and then and usually sells for up to $40 ish. Some joker had one listed on Amazon for $200!

Some days later I checked ebay and one popped up with a "Buy it now" price of $30 with an Eduard pit pe set. I nabbed that one in a heart beat.

Amazon can be pretty wild sometimes.

I've seen several examples of the same kit, running around 10-15 bucks...a little further down the list, the same kit will be $263...$372....$681.

Even if that kit is discontinued...rest assured, that's only temporary. I remember seeing their A-6 Intruder on ebay, going for over $100...couple months later it was released again and could be had anywhere for around $25!

I can't recall a single contest/vendor room that I didn't see at least one version of that kit...usually in the $15-20 range. $50 for that kit seems quite high to me....maybe because when I bought it, it was $5.99 (late 80's)

I am a third party seller on amazon.  What is happening typically when you see those crazy prices is that many sellers and companies list items on amazon using software that will aggrigate there listing data from another site like google shopping or ebay etc... and feed that info to amazon.  Sometimes the data gets mixed up and this is how the pricing gets all screwy.  You will see this on google shopping and ebay at times too.

If you have ever clicked on something in google shopping and been taken to a totally different item, this is the same type of corrupted data where the info got mixed up.

I always figured there was something "goofy" going on.

Seems like the first page or two will have normal/decent prices, beyond that, they seem to go haywire.

I ordered a couple Hobby Boss A-7's for 8-9 bucks...a couple pages later, the same kits were listed up to $700!!!
