In the last year or so I've shown everything in Max's Comparitive Aircraft Museum (really just my office) or at least I thought I had. I'm planning on building another F-104 in the NASA version and I realized that the first 104 had missed the parade. Here it is and I did get carried away with photography but what a cool design. All angles look good. One of my favorite aircraft. Nothing special, OOB for the Museum. Check it out.
Max
looks great max!
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Very nice indeed! Such a beautiful design.
Shouldnt there be a "USAF" on the upper and lower wings opposite the national insignia?
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

One would think the USAF markings would be shown on the wings but they weren't shown in the plans or on the decal sheet for this version for some reason. ??
Max, even the decal companies goof up. The recent JR Tomcat I worked on had several mistakes on the decal sheet like the wrong ship name, wrong color letters for pilot and back seater and several other things.
I have to echo that other guys in saying that this is one very nice build.

Hey PJ, BK, Stikpusher, Toshi, Bish and anyone I missed on this build, Thanks for the comments my friends. You guys do push me along!
Nice looking F-104C.
The F-104 has that look like they forgot to put the wings on to it.
Chasing the ultimate build.
Tonight the wife and I went to the local wine and dine place for dinner. As we were leaving an old friend and childhood hero was arriving and I stopped by to say hello. When I was in grade school his mother lived next door and her son Tom went away to become an Air Force pilot. He flew an F-84 in Korea and would stop by to see his mother occasionally and would give me a report on his adventures. The models of things he flew are some of my favorite models. The F-84G could even carry a nuke in the '50s and that's how I built mine. Tom told me of tossing the dummy nuke in practice. He later flew the F-104 and I told him of the model that I built recently. He told me tonight that was the the most impressive thing he ever flew especially the take-off and climb. You ask why I build models? This is one of the reasons.
.
Beautiful build of one of my favorite jets.
I'm so impressed you guys can keep the clear parts clear! (I couldn't build an aircraft model without messing up some of the clear parts to save my long-in-the-tooth life!).

That's a beautiful Starfighter Max! Looking forward to seeing the NASA version.

I love that airplane; however, I have no idea how that thing was able to fly. The wings are so small. I finished one about 6 months ago. As usual, I covered it in Bare Metal Foil. With your permission I'll post a photo.
Your comments and questions are always welcome.
Yes! Let's see it!

One word- thrust! The J79 engine. Also used in the F-4 Phantom to prove that, if you put big enough engines on a brick, it will fly.
Wow, Thanks gang, including Seasick, Mike, Mark of course, Don, the real model builder, Johnny and Chemteacher and the ones I mentioned earlier, thanks to all for the comments! Again you've all put a new twist on modeling. For decades I had zero interaction with other model builders and the forum experience has taught me how to learn new things and solve old problems. I really do enjoy seeing others efforts to build cool stuff and share info along with the social aspect of modeling. All good!
Max,
Here are some photos of my F-104. The finish is Bare Metal Foil.

Hey Johnny, Outstanding job on the finish for sure!
Beautiful models!
"Whaddya mean 'Who's flying the plane?!' Nobody's flying the plane!"
Jim Barton Beautiful models!
Yes indeed! I need to build a silver Starfighter one day. I finished one last year in SEA camo.
Don't sweat the small stuff too much. There's always something I'm catching that gets away from me that I notice when it's all done. Just keeps me reaching for the next plane. =] that's a sweet looking starfighter!
How was the kit? Typical Hasegawa issues??
Tamiya F4U-1 Kenneth Walsh
I don't recall there being any problems with the Hasegawa kit. The decals were a little thick, otherwise everything went together fine.
Absolutely beautiful! I love your application of the BMF. I gotta try that someday.
I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.
I would suggest that you try your first BMF application on Revell's F-84G Thunderjet. That plane has very simple shapes.

I've got to put in a comment on the above mentioned Revell F-84G Thunderjet. This kit is an exceptional kit for Revell. Fit and detail really good. It even comes with a '50s nuke. One of my favorite models!
Love that background painting there Max!
Hey Stikpusher, I built the model and painted the background in one of those adult art classes w/wine. What fun that was! The instructor said to paint something with motion. lol.
