Back to basics! Airfix 1/48 Dogfight Doubles Spitfire MkVb vs Bf109 E4

This was a quick kit build that I did with no WiP thread.  Slapped it together wheels up as quickly as I could, but still got to play with some new techniques - first time trying my hand at painting camo of any kind.  Got to do two - Luftwaffe splinter/mottle and RAF desert/MTO camouflage.  Did the Spitfire and mottle pattern freehand. Hanging in my son's ceiling with acetate disk "spinning" propellers.

It was a fun project to do, my 9 year old loves the planes, and the Airfix kit was really nice to work with. Used Vallejo Model Air RAF MTO and early Luftwaffe sets.

I love those Airfix redbox kits!  I think these two birds look great and I bet your son is very excited to have them hanging from his ceiling!

yes both kits are new tool. They went together beautifully and are well detailed with nice pilot figures. I'll be looking for more of the newer suffix kits in the future!

Nice work freehanding the two camo patterns!  I really like the mottling on the 109.  Yes

Cheers, Mark
