1/48 Hobby Boss A-4E Sky Hawk - USS Constellation, 1966 (Experimental camo scheme)
Hobby Boss's new release Skyhawk, a nice easy build, but a few little problems with it. The main canopy is not wide enough and I had to glue one side down, when dry, splay it to glue other side, still not perfect but I did not want to put to much pressure on it.
The pylon construction in the instructions is done wrong for the drop tank pylons and I had to drill a hole in tanks to fit as Hobby Boss have pictured the pylon sway braces back to front (the pylons are correct way, but location of braces are not).
And the decals were not the greatest, looking a bit "patchy" dull and shiny accross the sheet.
The scheme was an experimental one, but the fleet did not report favourably on the use of dark camouflages.
I used Gunze, Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics, Vallejo metal color, Flory dark dirt wash and Mig satin varnish.
