The show was yesterday and we had a great time. My son's Grave Digger took a second place, and the Dogfight Double earned a bronze, so we were both very pleased! Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to get feedback on my builds, things were just too busy. We made it to the candy store and the wing place, so it was one of those days the kid will always remember.

As for shopping, I came home with an AMT '57 Ford Fairlane 500 kit. I haven't done much with cars, other than struggle with a Revell Mustang GT that has some manufacturing issues. I love those old cars from the '50's, so looking forward to building this once the bench is a little more clear. There was a Monogram P-61 Black Widow kit I almost bought. It was already started, $10. It looked like it was just the cockpit, but i couldn't tell if all the parts were there.

They all look great.  I like the dogfight presentation, but I especially like your Wildcat.  Well done!

There all great builds, but the Wildcat should "bring home the Gold !"

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Thats great that your son is going to enter with you. Best of luck to the both of you.

My 2 son's built at that age but they didn't stay with it. My grandson is that age and has built several it's a blast watching and helping them.

Thank you all for the compliments! The contributions on this site are most helpful, I've learned so much hanging out here. The show is in Sharon, PA sponsored by the Shenango Valley Area Scale Modellers. I'm looking forward to getting some feedback on my builds, the shopping, and having lunch at Quaker State and Lube, a local wing place. My son is going to enter a build too. He did the Revell SnapTite Grave Digger and he's in the process of making a base. He's eight, so a big accomplishment for him!

That Wildcat looks great. I agree that the Flying Tiger stand is really fantastic, and the double is sweet.

Keep it up, U.P.! You're skills are really improving a lot!

Every single build looks fantastic.  But you are correct sir, the Wildcat looks great in-flight!  Good luck in your show.

Yep it dose look cool flying. I thought I read once that they refused to them as the bugle duck on the ground.

I agree both stands look nice but the p-40 stand well just stands out all pun intended.

Good luck with your show. They all look nice. I have a few 1/48 airfix but have yet to try one.

I enjoy the 1/72 scale airfraft, and the Airfix line in particular. Here are a few airplanes I recently finished for an upcoming show in PA. Please forgive my photography!

I really enjoyed doing this Wildcat, the kit went together very well. They look so ungainly on the ground, but take on a whole different look in flight.

The mount for this P40 is made of 14 gauge wire with a staple-shaped wire soldered underneath that holds the plane. I kind of like this better than the acrylic rod on the Wildcat.

The Dogfight Double was a fun kit. I decided to position them in a head-on pass. They look close together in the picture but they are a plausible distance apart for the 1/72 scale. No danger of collision!
