The USAF would never allow the Marines to have something that BIG. Not to mention the Navy.

Alrighty, firstly I must apologize for not maintaining the running score on this one. I've been very busy this week with so-called important stuff. Also, our show is this Sunday and I've been getting ready for that...

Anyhoo, there were a total of thirty replies. Before I reveal how many got it right I must say this; there was no right answer, really, as to the identity of the aircraft.

I was looking for one answer. Some gave that answer. I was also looking for a bonus answer and some gave that as well. But there were only a few who gave both answers.

So, now that ya'll are confused, whether it be from the quiz or from the bit I wrote above, here's what I was looking for:

The image is altered

Those who actually stated this in their replies (whatever terminology was used; photoshopped, photochop, doctored...):

Tailspinturtle
Kagemusha
J-Hulk
stinger
eagle334

BTW, most of you knew what the aircraft used in the image was; the An-225. Some also found the original photo on Airliners.net.

Many others also made comments about the 'extra' engine or engines. But only one (that I recall) noticed the stretched fuselage. (It's stretched both in front and in back of the wings.) I'm sorry, I can't recall who noticed that.

In answer to a few questions as to whether or not I did the deed on this image; no I didn't. Here's where I found the photo used in the quiz:

Modified Airliner Photos

There's lotsa really cool stuff there, and some are very well done.

OH! Almost forgot...

Those who actually mentioned the bonus answer in their replies:

ckfredrickson
Anthony
Tailspinturtle
stinger

What was the bonus answer?

APRIL FOOL!

My intention with this one was to create some confusion, second-guessing and all that. Based on the emails I received, I'd have to say "Mission Accomplished"...

Good job Steve !!

Have to admit I was looking for an 8 engined AN-225 and although I found an artist rendition of a proposed one, you had me guessing.

Damn! Now how did I miss that stretched fuselage!!

That was fun, though, Steve, and you had me wondering about the half guesses!

Good Job!
