Looking for British Phantom Decals
Posted by plasticjunkie on Sunday, September 24, 2017 3:24 PM

I just picked up a Hasegawa 1/48 Phantom FRG.2 at a show and need decals. Have been searching in the internet but nothing is available. With that said, if anyone has spares that would like to sell then please give me a shout. Thanks!

Oh beautiful kit PJ. Good luck with decals. There's a huge gap in the British Phantom aftermarket decal world. That's why I'm always on the lookout for the Revell rebox because that gets you good quality decals and stencils. I'd try Hannants in the U. K. Look for Xtradecal or AirDoc. The Xtradecal set does not contain stencils. I believe Ram models has some sheets out as well but again, no stencils...

Yes it's a beautiful kit indeed, Collector's Hi-Grade FGR.2. It is complete including the decals but the markings are for the Transatlantic Alcock and Brown markings. I want to use regular operational ones. Sweet kit for $17!

Couldn't find anything but I will look again. I have seen them on Ebay now and then.

Thuds, the printscale decals are 1/72nd.

PJ, there is nothing on Hannants in 48th for what you want. There have been several releases of 1/72nd decals for FG.1's and FGR.2's, the former in readiness for the new Airfix kit and the latter i am guessing in anticipation it will be followed by an FGR.2 kit. If Airfix also decide to do a 48th one, you will see some new decals, but at the moment nothing new.

Have you checked scalemates to see if any AM decals were released in the past, that will at least give an idea of what to look for.

Edit: I stand corrected, i didn't do the search properly. Model Alliance has 3 sets of RAF Germany decals which all include FGR.2's.

And Xtradecal has this FG.1/FGR.2 set

Bish buddy, you are da man!! Thanks so much for the links and will order one of those. I'm leaning on Xtradecal 48001. I love those Brit colors on the Phantom.
