Ok,I found an old vac form canooy that will fit over the ball turret to protect itlI just had to drill holes for the machine guns to slip through. After the putty is sanded diwn I will tape it down and proceed with airbrushing the gray underside . Should work just fine and the gray is easy to touch up with a brush.
Don Stauffer I have been using that new UV laser hardening cement. Won't craze plastic, and is easier to use than epoxy, but just as strong. Comes in a tube with nozzle at one end and laser or LED at other end.

I will second that. I got one and like it quite well in some situations.
I found it at Walmart on the “as seen on tv” shelf. Seems like it was about $9 US.
I used two part epoxy and it worked just fine.I joined up the fuselage halves and fit is ok but not great. The ball turret had to be instalked before joining the halves so it must be protected from damage and overspray while I deal with seams and painting the neutral gray underside.I was thinking of cutting a ping pong ball in half and white gluing it in place.
Sounds interesting Don. Is that anything like the stuff my dentist uses? I seem to recall her jamming a blue (laser?) light into my mouth during certain procedures.
As for the B-17 turret, I would use white glue since I have always had good results with it. But I do need to investigate the UV laser thing.
Cheers, Mark

Indeed!I have two hours in on just the front half but it will be worth the effort.
I only used white glue when I built mine. It holds fine so you epoxy would work too as long as it dries clear. Then paint the zinc and then the NG. Masking that animal was a task in itself.

I have been building the 1/48 Revell B-17G and am very impressed with interior detail thus far.I masked up the two halves of the ball turret and plan to assemble it first before painting the Zinc Chromate primer and neutral gray.I was thinking of using two part epoxy for strength.Any flaws in my plan?
