Painting masks need some help
Posted by rooster513 on Saturday, November 18, 2017 9:25 PM

Hey all. I'm working on using maketar painting asks for the first time to paint the crosses instead Bf109 and I'm having a hard time. Any tips on how to get the mask in place where it needs to be in one piece? I find if I try to move it it all comes apart. I tried putting a piece of tamiya tape over it first to hold it together but it still comes apart. Any tips for using painting masks?

Thanks!

You might want to first cut some masking tape the width of the crosses and apply them to the wings and fuselage to use as an alignment tool. Then apply the premade masks. Peel off the masking tape thus exposing where the black and white have to be applied.

Thanks philo. I gave it a try but it's positioning it on the first try that is getting me. If I try to pull it up to move it it all comes apart. I'll keep at it lol!

Yes it can be tricky and it has to be aligned correctly on the first try.

I tried handpainting the crosses on a set of vac form HE-177 wings and while decent they could be better!
