Is it just me, or does this bomb look off? Compared to other US bombs I've seen, the front end looks a bit too spherical, and the fins look a bit large and elongated.
Did the marines have a different source of bombs that would have been different?
I'm depicting Ole' 122.
I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.
Have fun.
I do not own or have never seen inside that particular kit, so I can’t comment on the bomb’s accuracy in outline or contours. But no, the Marines did not get their own source of bombs just for them. They would use the same types as the Army and Navy (who they are part of and purchases their ordnance and equipment).
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

No, it’s not just you. I thought the same thing. Still put it on my plane, though!
This is a great kit, but there’s a couple areas that frustrate the heck out of me. Bomb and bomb rack is one.
You can compare it with the ones from this US Navy manual (OP-1664) to ID it if it is possible:

WIP: Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo
Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea
Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group
Oh man, now I can't unsee that.
The tip on the Tamiya bomb is clearly too flat, the back taper too long, and the fins too short compared a the real M44/M65.
Thanks, all. I'm glad it's not just me. I'll just replace it with a bomb from my parts bin.
Johnny1000 Oh man, now I can't unsee that.
Or when I walk past a full length mirror.
Dwayne or Dman or just D. All comments are welcome on my builds.
ManCityFan Johnny1000 Oh man, now I can't unsee that. This applies to so many things in life. Often happens when on the beach. Or when I walk past a full length mirror.
