Airfix's 1/72 P51 Mustang
Posted by Justinryan215 on Saturday, November 25, 2017 9:32 AM

Hey all!  As my super busy fall cubscout season is coming to an end, I have been squeezing in a bit of bench time here and there, and this little guy was first on the list...

It is also the first time with nmf, and, aside from a bit of weathering, I'm calling her all finished.  Oh yeah...except the windscreen, which vanished.  I'm hoping my email to airfix will be fruitful!

Nice job. What did you use for your NMF?

On the bench: Revell-USS Arizona; Airfix P-51D in 1/72

It was Vallejo metal colors 'dull aluminum.  I attempted to get variation in the panels by using different base colors, but it is only noticable when viewing close up....

Great build. I built one last year. I think it's the best D in 72nd scale

Looking great so far.  I have that kit in my stash, and it is pretty high up in the queue- soon to go on the bench.  How about some comments on the kit.  Reviews I have seen on it so far sound pretty good.

We,, since I am not a professional reviewer, I'll give you a brief highlights reel!  Lol

This was my first airfix kit I have ever built.  I have two more in the stash, a pby, and an f86 sabre.  I now love airfix kits! Lines were nice, assembly was straightforward,  I had a little strobe with the fuselage seam, but I think that was operator error!  Being 1/72, it assembled quickly, with adequate detail.  No major problems to speak of, and from here on out, I will be adding some airfix kits to my stash on a semi regular basis!
