Trumpeter's IP "film"

Trumpeter uses a clear decal film wedged between the panel front (clear) and back. What do you guys do for this? Keep panel clear or paint flat black as instructions? Use white glue only on the sides of the front panel? I'm not quite sure what to do without ruining the film.

I usually paint the clear panel in a shade SLIGHTLY lighter than true black. The bezels can be painted black. Paint the BACK of the film white. To attach the film, I coat the film with a brush coat of Future (make sure that you trim any excess film from the edges so it won't show). The Future will act as "glue." Then I glue this assembly to the back piece, using TINY drops of CA. When finished drying, you can add a drop or two of Future to each insrtument to simulate the glass.

Hope this helps.

I paint the glare shield panel that the film will attach to flat white. Then I use Testors clear parts cement to attach the film to the panel (to make sure the instruments line up and such), and then I take that whole assembly and use testors clear parts cement to attach it to the glare shield assembly. Once that's all done I use drops of future to give it a glass look like Pix does. Of course the actual clear panel should be fully painted and weathered before you attach the pieces. I don't know why Trumpeter makes the panels clear, as it is the hardest thing for me to paint (clear pieces that is) The clear film is a great idea though, as it really adds those instruments to the panels and kinda gives em a glassy look as well.
