That F-8, or one from the same group, is on display in Honnalulu Hawii at the Marine base IIRC. I was TDY there, (not long enough) and I would see the F-8 and a PV-2 Neptune going through the gate. I also saw P-3s in five different national markings. When I asked about their presence I got one of those "don't ask" looks.

If that was actual video of the aircraft he collided with, was an F-100, not a Scooter.

 

 

Theres a lot of generic video in that clip... it starts off with USAF Strike Eagles, not IDF... Israel did not use the F-100... Closest they had to the F-100 was the Super Mystere. Afterwards they went to the Mirage. Which pretty much outclassed the F-100 in every possible way. I've seen a picture of an F-4 same deal. 

Probably a little sluggish on the controls...

 

I worked at McDD when that happened.  Created quite a stir and was widely reported in the press.

All goes back to the number one lesson my flight instructor hammered, drilled and beat into me...."two solid objects cannot occupy the same given space at the same given time,..gracefully". Been over 50 years and it is still stuck right behind the forehead.

 

Another important lesson...."complacency will kill you". 

Me either, but we might have given them a few for a peek at the SAM 6 site they laid hands on back when.

That video doesn't make any sense to me. I think it's mostly clipped together. I also can't think of why there would be a Super Sabre in SEA paint over Israel, but the IDF certainly had a lot of A4's.

I read about this. Appearantly, the wings weren't locked into open position and folded in flight. The pilot managed to land the plane.

This was the story with either this aircraft or the F-4.

If that wing is going into the hanger deck stowed position, I can see an immediate ejection followed by a hard roll to port.  Along with surveying one Crusader.
