Fujimi 1/48 Aichi Type 99 Val Dive Bomber
Posted by plasticjunkie on Thursday, December 21, 2017 4:23 PM

I just completed this Fujimi 1/48 Val for the Battle of Midway and Japanese Pt. VI GB's.

Exterior detail is pretty decent but had to do some scratch work in the pit. Added a bunch of things here and there working from a couple of photographs. The MG cradle was scratched out of stretched sprue.

Added a few things and a control panel from my spares box on the left fuse side.

The kit's IP is pretty decent.

I also cut out the flaps.

Did the hairspray chipping/weathering method.

I added an Eduard IJN Carrier Deck Section kit, spare figures from a Tamiya kit and markings from the Kaga Air Group that attacked Midway. Thanks TJ for the decals!

Another view.

This is the MG from the box.

And after carving the receiver and pe bits added like AA sight, trigger guard, trigger and drum handle.

Hey PJ, that is one fine looking Val.  The hairspray method worked out really well, and that MG is fantastic.  Overall, great job!

Nicely done, especially the extras in the pits.

Nice work . I think if you hadn't done the mods. to the mg. it would have detracted from the great work you did on the rest of it.
