Fine build of one of my favorite jet aircraft.

Very nice and realistic job on the non-specular sea blue paint. Very nice build. Sea duty takes the gloss off the paint in a hurry. I'm in the research process for John Glenn and Ted Williams and the -5 Monogram/Revell kit.  I hope mine turns out as nice as yours. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice build, did you use the kit decals?

Yes, they are the kit decals. They went on very well.

Looks pretty darn good. The F9F is such a classic aircraft.

One critique though, the landing gear should be in Sea Blue with metal hubs... the switch to white for those areas came later.

The reference pictures I used were from VF-51 on the USS Valley Forge and they had the white landing gear.

Well done.  How was the kit?  Seeing yours I kinda want one

It is a decent kit. The fit was very good. The only negative is the front landing gear is molded to the bay front wall. This makes it difficult to tape off when spraying the outside and adds the risk of breaking when working on other areas. I actually broke mine and had to pin it back together.

While I contemplate my next large project, I am working back on my 1/48 scale aircraft. So the first aircraft completed in 2018 is a Trumpeter 1/48 scale F9F-3 from VF-51.
