Hello.
I'm not normally a scale modeler but I've decided to build a flyable IRIS-T missile. Lacking drawings (anyone know where I could get some?), I've put together most of my information from studying a myriad of pictures online. I was hoping some of the more practiced scale modelers out there would be able to help out answering a few of my lingering questions. If there's a better place to go for this sort of info please let me know. Sorry for flinging a bunch of questions on my first post, but, well, that's why I'm here.
Here's the current state of my design, as rendered by OpenRocket (not having luck embedding pictures at the moment so for now it's just a link). There are a lot of surface details that are impractical to model in OR, so I'll be adding some of those in the actual model but they're absent in the render.
There seem to be many different paint jobs out in the wild; I've picked that one somewhat arbitrarily. What I'm very unclear on are the following:
1) Would the logo typically be painted on both sides of the missile? I've seen pictures from the left and right that both show the logo, but never pictures of the left and right of the same missile.
2) Between the main fins there's a "Warning" box; anyone know what it says? I have placeholder text in there for now.
3) Anyone have any concrete info about the various serno plates all over the missile? I have a reasonable idea about the Guidance Section plate at front (shown in some pictures); the others I'm really guessing at at the moment.
Finally, a couple of terminology questions:
4) What do you call the four bands that wrap around the airframe? The hangers (not shown in my render) are mounted to them up top, and the main fins are bolted to them
5) What do you call the four pieces on which the control fins at the rear are mounted?
Thanks in advance for any info.
