Republic P-47D30 Turkish Air Force - Tamiya - 1/72
Posted by cetinsarf on Monday, February 26, 2018 5:03 PM

"After the WWII, 180 P-47Ds were received within the US military aid program. All of the planes came within 1948 and they were deployed at the 9th, 5th & 8th Regiments. After the reorganization of TuAF they equipped the 151st & 152nd squadrons of the 5th AB (Air Base), 181st & 182nd Squadrons of the 8th AB and 191st & 192nd Squadrons of the 9th AB. P-47s are considered as interim aircraft before the jet era and their service life was relatively short. Starting in 1952 were started to be replaced by the F-84Gs. The last one was dropped from active duty in 1954. (www.tayyareci.com)"

I used Tamiya (No:70) kit. Actually it is a D-25 variant. I modified the fuselage to convert it to D-30 which was used in Turkish Air Force service. Decals are from Tigerhead Decals. I build this for the son of a P-47 pilot.

All comments are ok. Thanks for looking.

That's a gorgeous presentation with the photos and all. Got me wondering how did you do the fading out the edges of the pics etc. Did you use some sort of photo shop ?

Oh wow, I've seen the Tigerhead Turkish decals for sale - it's cool seeing one built. And really nice work on the presentation!

What a beautiful build. The NMF is superb. Republic must have been pleased when Turkey switch to the F-84.

I once came across a decal source named Turquoise decals, that were pretty good. I used them on a FW-190. I assume they are a different company.

Thanks for posting, it's impressive.

A fantastic build.  I wish my NMF could look like that.
