Oops. Wait a minute. Just found this illustration at HD Wallpapers. Would be kinda cool. Looks like it's got a D-21 drone on its back.

Not quite an SR71. This one's an M21, one of two built to carry the drones. The lighter areas are bare titanium.

Very cool.  Is there a decal set for the NASA F-18?

Oh, sweet SR-71 paint!  I'll have to seriously consider doing that for my next kit!

The NASA livery is great. So much more lively than that dull flat black on the Dragon Lady.

I just looked up the NASA SR-71, wondering about the livery. It's still flat black.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

You're kidding me!  I hunted around for days to find a full viable kit, and paid a pretty penny for it!  Aaargh!

Well, good luck with the build! Smile

I loved the old Hawk 1/48 scale kits and still have a few of the chromed ones like a Bearcat, Mustang and Thunderbolt.

Wow, that’s a cool NASA U2.  I’ve never seen one like that before.

Picked that kit up last weekend. Hawk (round 2) re-issued it.

Nice!

There is a thing on Netflix I happened to watch the other day where one of the guys from Top Gear (James May I think) takes a ride in a U2.

Cool - love the markings.  Such a distinctive profile with that mile of straight wing.

Nice job.

Thanks,

John

You don’t see many U-2’s on here either. I like it!

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Excellent work! You don't see a lot of NASA schemes these days.

Finished an old kit.

Hey!  I just finished up an old, out of print kit of a Testors U-2.

Instead of going with black CIA or gray-on-gray USAF camo, I went with the NASA ER-2 version sans sensor pods.  1:48 scale.  Very little in the way of cockpit, but you really can't see it anyway.

ER-2

Sprayed the bottom gray with Krylon Misty Gray, added the line with Tamiya Clear Blue.  The decals unfortunately showed their age, and tore in numerous places.
