F-6C Mustang...
Posted by fotofrank on Monday, March 26, 2018 12:43 PM

I recently bought a decal set from AMDG: Yankee Merlin Roars! Part 2. Included on the decal sheet are marking for a 118 TRS F-6C photo recon Mustang. Very cool with the black and yellow lightning bolt down the fuselage. To that end, I am trying to find the Quickboost QB 48115 F-6D conversion set. I read a review if the conversion set on Modeling Madness written in 2016 but can't find the item anywhere to buy. I can find the 1/72 scale conversion set everywhere, and I'm going to buy that set for another build. Any clues, any ideas, where I can find this conversion set? It is listed on the Quickboost website, but there doesn't seem to be any way to make a purchase off the website.

Not going to worry about finding the F-6C conversion set. I'll come up with a work-around. Like using decals maybe.

Spruebrothers and Roll models doesn't have it so probably Squadron doesn't have it either.  I checked Hannants, and if they don't have it, no body has it.  Check Ebay as a chance.  Quickboost might have deleted it already without changing the website.

Yeah, I checked SprueBrothers, Hannants, eBay, Amazon, just about everywhere. Like I said in my previous post: I'm not going to worry about it. I'll just come up for a work-around to give me what I'm looking for. C'est la Vie...

I'm going to take an easier route to make the airplane an F-6C. Instead of cutting and drilling, I'm going to use paint and decals to represent the lens palcements on the rear of the radiator scoop of the Mustang. From pictures I've seen of the F-6, that will be easier than making serious modifications.

Interesting subject.   I never knew about this version of the Mustang.  Thanks for posting and good luck with the conversion.  Looking forward to the build .

Thanks,

John

Yeah, Keavdog. The finished Mustang will be an F-6C of the 118 Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron in China, 1944-1945. The Mustangs depicted in the movie "Empire of the Sun" were 118 TRS aircraft. https://youtu.be/VNTQSbvlutg
