So I’m helping the parents out thos weekend and figured I needed something to do in the evening. I ve had this Revologram F-16 Thunderbird for quite a few years, bet the kids have been wondering if I’d ever build this Fathers Day present...well it’s on this weekend.
my intent is to get the cockpit painted and the model assembled. Then during the week I can do all the painting.
Check out the picture in the instructions, I looked through all the sprues for the switch panels on either side of the cockpit before i realized there were no numbers associated with them haha, fooled me. it just blank WTH.
So, decided to try and paint something that would look good in this scale. Wish my hands were steadier lol Turned out more like a Monet, wasn’t he the guy who painted with dots? You can see the dots close up but from far away they look like a picture!
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
Nice workaround. Looking at the instructions online http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-5326.pdf , there should be decals for the consoles and IP.
They must have gone cheap on the rebox I have! No decals for the console ☹️ Even the instructions i have don’t call them out like they are on the link.
Here’s another fun one - there’s no positive alignment tab for the tail. It’s like they mixed and matched kits and didn’t notice this. the tail doesn’t sit well by itself so I will have to make one when i get home. Guess I’ll be finished later in the week.
Fit on the rest of the plane has been pretty good overall. Just a little cleanup on the gear bay doors has them all closed with nice lines.
Here’s the standard pic showing her profile. This will be as far as I can go for now. Later tonight I’ll probably add the tail if the kids don’t have a to-do list with dad lol

Coming along nicely, and a great way to spend spare time.
I’ve managed two short days at the bench in the last couple weeks. Too much going on outside and with the kids to focus any time on models unfortunately. Got a cahnce to put the primer on her yesterday. Today i picked up the vallejo paints i needed for the camo so maybe over this long weekend i can finish up the paint and get ready for decals :-)
Cool. Love that aggressor scheme. I got the f16N from hasegawa. Looking good!
Thanks,
John
Well after a busy summer and renovating an upstairs bathroom with a shower leak I finally got back to this one :-) I used Blu-Tak to separate the color scheme and it was a learning experience. I think i needed either less than 15psi or a smaller airbrush needle because paint tended to overspray onto the adjacent section. Looks pretty good from a foot away tho with the gloss coat on! Tomorrow I’ll do the decals and snap a few more pics. I’ve always wanted an F-16 in this scheme. May even motivate me to do a bigger bird, hmmmm.
looking good, I love agressor schemes!

Thanks Waikong, Thanks keavdog!
here’s a few of my finished build. The TwoBobs decals were the best. Even the tiniest markers came off the sheet smooth and didn’t curl up on me before settling them down.
Wow that turned out nice. Love that scheme. I'm slowly working through aggressor builds - all the agressor aircraft. I really like the paint schemes of the aggressors. Should we do an aggresor group build??? BTW - really like the wheels up display.
Great work, but there is a problem. Eielson AFB's 18th Aggressor Squadron tail codes are AK, not WA. WA is the 57th Aggressor Tactics Group at Nellis AFB.
WIP: Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo
Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea
Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group

well richs26 you’ve got me wondering which part is wrong? I went back to decal sheet but can’t identify whether I missed something or if the decals don’t match reality? Here’s the sheet for reference
It's easy. You have the Nellis WA,WA,WA sheet instead of one of the two Alaska Splinter sheets. See it at TwoBobs Decals.
Ahah, I think it finally sank in. I've always referred to the black, gray, and white scheme as the Alaska Agressor scheme but that implies it would be tail code AK. So I need to use the correct terminology instead of generically refering to them all as 'Alaska', going forward. Did I get it?
Goose, I was going to make the same comment made by richs26. The Alaska Agressors have the AK on the tail, so you got it. Beautiful build by the way.
Your paint job is exquisite and the build is fantastic.
