Here's a pretty good story.

My Father in Law was a Crew Chief in Tunisia in 1942, one of the first over.

Kind of a mechanical genius too.

He and a couple of other mechanics put together a 109 for fun in their spare time from wrecks on the field.

I'd tell you the story of his test flight, but it's classified.

The last two photos are when AAF Intelligence took it from him.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Sure would like to see someone bring the airplane to Florida.

Back in the 70's the Whittington brothers had a Hispano HA-1112 painted up in pre-war colors as the speed record setting 109. It was one of the airplanes that played one of the bad guys in the movie "Battle of Britain." The airplane looked like this:

I have pictures I took of the airplane around here somewhere, if I can find the album they're in.
