HI Pat,

Thank you! The one in your link is definitely of the same lineage but has different decals than the one I have. As you said, it seems this one did sell under lots of brand names starting with an Eldon kit in 1968. (good chance this is the company producing the ones my brother and I built) In 1972, Fuji became the third company to sell it after Eldon and Nichimo. I started looking through the list on scalemates but there are very few pictures of sprues or decals so I still don't know which one it is.

I wonder if they left their company name off the sprues and instruction sheet on purpose to facilitate selling under different brand names. It seems like I would have my company name at least on the instructions. with maybe even an address or something. Thank you again.

Here's a link to some info on the origin of the Eldon WWI aircraft kits:

Hi,

I'm not real familiar with this type plane, but in looking at scalemates.com it appears that there have been a few 1/72 scale kits produced of it, though some may just be the same kit manufactured by another company.

In particular Scalemates list ESCI, ERTL, Eldon, Entex, Fuji, Nichimo, Revell, Revell/Takara, and Sunny Tri-S as having marketed 1/72 scale NNieuport 17c kits.

In doing a quick internet search I came across this image that appears to show a similar sprue as yours, which appears to be for the Fuji kit

Hmm. Seems the images never made it into the post. They appeared ok when I copy and pasted them into the post. I'll have to read up how to do that.

Does anyone know what this kit is exactly? I know the subject obviously but don't know the manufacturer. As can be seen from the photos it has JAPAN moulded on the inside of one fuselage half and the tail number on the deals is 1424. It scales out to 1/72 or 1/76 scale. It just came in a plastic bag but the instructions refer to box art. I remember my brother and I used to buy small biplane models for I think literally 19 cents (maybe 91 cents) back in early seventies. They were in a plastic bag too but had a cardboard card stapled to the top of the bag.
