Need a B-24D liberator kit!
Posted by Dutch-modeler on Monday, July 30, 2018 8:01 AM

Hi, I’ll finish my Revell B-17G kit 1/48 in a few weeks and after that I really want to build a Revell B-24D liberator kit. But when I was looking on the internet I could only find a few Revell kits which cost more than 100 dollar. A bit too expensive for a plastic kit to me.

so does anyone know where I can find a Revell B-24D liberator kit for under 50 dollar/Euro?

I‘ll make a post about the Revell B-17G when I’m finished and I got photo’s of every step.

thanks in advance.

I was going to tell you Hobbylinc.com but it looks like they are out of stock of most of thier Revell models. You can preorder it there. It's listed at $20.79

Good luck with that. It's a really long shot that the model will ever be produced again.

At this time, your best bet is secondhand kit sources. eBay, rareplane detective, kit swap meets, etc. Revell is currently out of action, with no announced date of return to action. So unless Revell Germany, who is in a bit better situation of recovery, re issues this kit anytime soon, secondhand sources or a place that has one on hand as new old stock is the only option.

Saw one a my local Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago. Don’t know if it’s still there. Check yours if you have a HL locally. They might also have it online and can deliver to your local store.

Judging by his screen name and asking about a price in Euros, I suspect that dutch modeler does not have a local hobby lobby.

Think about some aftermarket improvements.

Tires

Machine gun barrels

(gulp) engines.

This may be a strange/unexperienced question but I’m not familiar with scalemates.com, so is this a secondhand site or is it just a regular store? because I normaly only use ebay to buy my stuff... which is maybe a bit stubborn though.

You could try adding some "bling" to the model such as brake lines and engine piping. That's an aftermarket tire in the photo. It looks a little underinflated, but it still looks better than the tire that is included in the kit.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

Scalemates is a database. It is a good resource for discovering what is available. I like to refer to it for kit histories.
