Yakovlev Yak-3, fighter
Régiment de Chasse Normandie-Nièmen,
Ukraïne/Poland 1944
SMER 0836

Hi all, finally got this one finished. I built it together with the Mastercraft Yak 1, which was a horrible kit that ended up in the dust bin. However this one made it. Nothing much or special really and quite simple. The decals however were a real ordeal. Most of them desintegrated after taking them from the water. I had to use stars and numbers from te sparebox and only the nose art on the left side survived its bath.....The lightning arrows that should go right through the stars on the fuselage - as the French pilots of this units applied - didn't make it however. I solemny swear that I will never again build a SMER, ICM or Mastercraft kit.

The Dutch Fokker G-1 Reaper, heavy fighter. If we only would have had more of them back in May 1940....

You didn't mention what scale, appears to be 72nd, from  pictures I never would have known it gave ya such a hard time.

I tried building an ICM 35th German staff car, I feel your pain, the thing is in the bottom of my stash and unfortunately probably will never be finished.

we're modelers it's what we do

Yeah, ICM kits are some work but they can look nice when done.  The decals go straight in the bin when I start on one.  Useless.

Looks great!  There’s not many things in this hobby that deflate my sails like disintegrating decals!
