This is a picture after I used the architects scale, rubber bands and clamps on the B-29 wing. It is as straight as an arrow. As I mentioned above, I use an architects scale because it is so stiff that it cannot bend no matter how warped the wing is.

I've had this problem on a number of builds and I have fixed the problem in the same way. I use an architect's scale, rubber bands and clamps. The architects scale is super stiff and it will not bend, so it makes the wing straight.

This is the wing on a 1/48 B-29. Both main wings were warped. The architects scale, rubber bands and clamps made the wing perfectly straight.

Same problem with a 1/48 B-58. Same solution.

1/48 B-24J had the same warped wing problem. The architects scale, rubber bands and clamped fixed the problem.

Thanks, I might try putting in a rod and see how that works.

There are a few methods I've used for this. Sometimes I will use brass rod inside the wing to maintain the proper shape and other times I have had to use hot water to warm the plastic enough to allow me to set it to the proper shape and let it cool. Most of the time though the wings will come back into shape simply by glueing them up. You just have to tackle it in a way that will stay that way once done. Good luck.

Fix for warped wings out of box?

Hello all,

I am about to start an L1011 kit out of the box.  The wings come in upper and bottom halves.  The bottom half of one of them bends down fairly significantly.  I think it will be almost ok when I glue the halves together but afraid it will still bend a little.  Any tips or advice on how I might get the wings straightened out before gluing together?

I considered maybe attaching a straight piece of rigid thin wood or plastic on the inside portion in hopes it might pull it straight, but have never done it before.  Any experience would be appreciated!
