Sukhoi Su 27
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, April 1, 2004 9:45 PM
I've been asked to build an Su27 in 1/48th.
I built the Trumpeter kit a few years ago & was amazed at the crudity of it, given the price I had to pay. I found that there's an Academy kit (thanks to jmarcs site).
Has anyone built this one? any comments on it would be welcome, as would any suggestions of where to get one. Hannants don't list it, they just have the Trumpeter, at around 15 UK pounds, what a waste of plastic, (and money!)
Many thanks guys, PeteApprove [^]

You could go to:

http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/

Then search for 'academy su-27', and you'll see a ton of pictures of built su-27s. It's a great (but not so cheap) series of kits. Most people agree they are the best available in 1/48 at the time. Get one and have fun!

Has anyone build the zhangdefu 1/48 scale su-27? I'm having a lot of problems with this kit. I started it a while ago, and just kind of gave up on it...

LOL sounds like you are having the same problem on yours zokissima, that i had on my Hobbycraft kit of the SU-27. Talk about a piece of Censored [censored]. I know for sure now that i will get the academy kit and just pay the money for a better kit and quit being cheap.

I have a strong suspicion that the Trumpeter/Hobbycraft are the same as the Zhangdefu kits, as all seem to have very serious fit problems...

I built the Academy kit and it was great! I didn't have many problems at all with it and the photoetched stuff worked well too.

Thanks Guys, keep the comments coming. With the Trumpeter kit I had fit problems, detail problems, quality of the plastic problems, & I seem to remember there being something 'iffy' about the canopy, possibly the sprue gate, though I can't be certain, as I said, it's a couple of years since I built it.
