you're welcome-glad you've got it covered.

Please post pics of the finished build-looks like you've got a great build going.

I’m really thankful for your offer but I already bought a decal sheet on eBay which already arrives September 15. But thanks after all.

D-M,

I have an uncut decal sheet from the same kit-purchased new Dec. 2017-that I'm not going to be using.

Just PM me with your address if you want it-no charge.

Or it could be heat. In this case the decal looks way too far gone for decal film to save it. I had this happen to me recently with an old Williams kit.

I usually scan the decal sheets. In this case I hadn't, but the marking in question was one of several on the sheet, so I was able to scan the unused part and print several copies.

Revell is currently down due to the bankruptcy and going to new ownership. Perhaps their customer service will be up and running soon and able to get you new decals.

But, there are tons of aftermarket decals out there for 1/48 P-51s so unless you have your heart set on the kit markings, replacements for another marking option are easy to obtain. Just check your favorite online hobby supplier.

^^^ That....

Aftermarket decals you’re bound to find the same set as what was from your kit. Plus the scheme / Squadron possibilities are endless with P-51 decals...

Aftermarket is the only option if the whole decal sheet is gone.

However, here are a couple of tips to prevent this problem in the future.

I always scan the decal sheet when I start a new kit. Even if the decals are in good shape, if I destroy one by ham-handed application, I can print a new one with my printer and inkjet decal paper.

On old kits I always make a decal test before I wet any of the actual kit decals. On almost all decal sheets there are printed areas on the sheet that are actually decals. For instance, the product identification area is usually a decal, as is the trademark of the decal source. You can usually see the edge of the clear decal surrounding the printing to verify this. If one of these decals breaks up when you wet it, you know the sheet is bad and you have to save it.

There are products, called decal film, that coat the whole decal sheet and turn it into a single decal.  These will save the sheet. You can apply it with a brush.  The only downside is you need to cut each decal out seperately.  But this is much easier than making a copy.

thanks for all the usefull information, I don’t have a specific printer to make a copy of my decal sheet, But I never heard the ”decal film” product but I will look in to it for sure!!! Next time when I buy and old kit on eBay I’m also going to ask if the kit is sealed because this one was just de box without any plastic so there couldn’t be damage because I think my decal sheet caught some Moisture once...

I think I’m going to buy the decal set you Recommended but do you know if you can cut a decal in a shape you prefer?

You can cut the decal sheet any way you like.

Also if anyone knows where I can buy the exact Revell decal set? A website link would be great!

You may find some on eBay, but. most likely you would have to go directly to Revell who is out of commision right now.

By the way does anyone know anything about the plans for Revell and if they ever come back online? Because I really like their 1/48 models and I hope they are bringing out new

I do not know for sure, but, like you, I hope they do too.

There are many many 1/48 decal sheets for a P-51D Mustang. You may even find the same set as your Revell decals. The box art looks like Big Beautiful Doll.

Here is a sheet that has multiple versions of Big Beautiful Doll in 1/48:  Here

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t know Revell was down due to bankruptie that explains why their website didn’t work but I will look to aftermarket decalls. Thanks

Revell decall sheet broken!!! What now??
Posted by Dutch-modeler on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 2:57 PM

NEED HELP ASAP!

I almost finished my Revell P-51D mustang 1/48 but my decall sheet just fall apart when I put it in the water to apply the decalls....

now I don’t know what to do because I bought this kit at eBay so it’s a bit old.

Does anyone have a solution? Or a site which sell seperate decalls? Or does anyone has some spare decalls of this exact kit? Or can you order them from Revell itself?

I really want to finish model with these exact decalls.

Already put everything together now I just need to apply the decalls... but they’re broken
