Spare Phantom Canopy?
Posted by Redman7176 on Monday, October 15, 2018 7:56 PM

I’m building a 1/48 Academy F-4C. I had a catastrophic moment the other day. A drop of liquid glue dropped onto the front canopy piece and marred it badly.

Does anyone have a spare I could buy off them? Maybe even a 1/48 Hasegawa canopy piece might work.

Its not the entire canopy but just the front piece.

thanks!

I may have spares but I’m out of state and won’t be able to check till Sunday or Monday.

Have you tried to sand  with progressive finer grits and then polishing with Novus or automotive scratch removal product?

A final dip in Future after the above may also further hide the damage.

Try looking into aftermarket canopies. They're out there....

Or try contacting Academy for a replacement.

Thanks for checking! I apprecital the feedback guys.

yeah I’ve tried sanding and polishing it out, reapplied Future. It’s just cashed.

Academy has no customer service and does not offer replacement parts!

i got an idea that maybe a Hasegawa piece might work. I tried contacting them to get a spare to see. They don’t offer that part. Doh!

I have found a few Hasegawa kits for cheap, that include a one piece, and a segmented canopy. I may grab one of them and see if the front canopy piece will work. If it does I still would have the one piece canopy for the Hasegawa kit later.
