Guys,
I took a trip to the museum today and took as many pics as I could before my phone battery died. This place is amazing. Head on over to my Imgur page if you're interested. Some pics didn't come out so great, but I think there's still a lot there to enjoy.

It's a great museum. I'd recommend it to anybody. I'm fortunate to live relatively close. I love that Thunderjet.
I'm in Cincinnati and made my first trip up today. I just recently got the Tamiya 1/72 Thunderjet kit for an insane $5 so it was nice to see the real thing up close.
I’ll bet that was a fabulous visit. Do you have more photos to share with us?

Huh, huh...
That museum must be great. They have a very nice web page with panorama photos, too!
Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

It is a great spot! I was first introduced to it during ROTC summer camp, when we flew to WP and toured the base. Many years later I was a program manager for a program with the AF. We had a monthly progress meeting at the base every month (worked for McDonnell then in St. Louis). The meetings were always in the morning, and the flight back to STL were always afternoon ones, leaving a couple of extra hours to kill. I always used that time to visit all the nooks and crannies of the museum.
One day, however, instead of staying at the Museum, I visited the Wright Memorial, up on a buff just north of the part of the base where the Museum is (forget which letter). There is a nice memorial there, in a wooded copse, and the area is up on a hill overlooking the older area of the base. There is an arrow pointing to the area where the Wrights experimented, when it was Huffman's pasture.

That's a beauty!!
I plan to go back again, Don, so I'll try to check out more. It's less than an hour from me and it's free!! That's what really kills me. All of this history and it didn't cost me a dime to tour the place.
I've been there twice, and love it! I want to make another trip soon, since I'm about an hour away.

The memorial is actually outside the base, so you do not even need to enter the base. It is at the intersection of main highway and a regular road, with a drive going into the site.
Thanks for sharing the pics Dan. Awesome pics and museum. I've only been there once, about a half century ago. Would love to visit it again.
Cheers, Mark
