Another update. Got station 2,5, and 8 pylons installed. I opted to do this ahead of when it says to install them so that I could glue them from inside the wing. Also got the forward fuselage installed. Only minor filling was needed. The rear of the fuselage where the horizontal stabs are needed a bit more sanding and filling. Next up I’ll be painting and detailing the engines. Stay tuned!

Got the intakes painted and installed. It’s nice that GWH has these as a part of the kit. Just adds to the realism. The directions call for them to be gloss white. While this is true, the white does not go all the way to the front of the intakes, it starts a few feet back from the edge. I went ahead and pre-painted them this way, but didn’t have the forethought to paint and prime the lower lip on the fuselage. I’ll have to do this when I prime the model. Thanks for looking.

Little more progress done. First, let’s look at the detail of the kit...

Got the lower half of the wings glued on. They went on perfectly. The way they engineered it you can glue it from the inside without exposing the details to glue.

The mount for the forward fuselage is installed. Love how this will add support to the nose.

also got the intake ramps glued together. I was impressed by these. The corners where the pieces came together are mitered. They came together flawlessly.

monday I’ll get the intakes primed and painted white and get them installed along with the flaps and ailerons. Thanks for looking!

Been a bit. Got the cockpit built up. I tried to capture how dirty and beat up these jets are. Most of them are over 30 years old with over 9k hours! first attempt at stippling with a foam brush to get that worn look. If you guys have any tips I’m more than happy to hear them! This is my second model Ive built since I got back into it, so I’m  relearning all the skills. Thanks for looking!

Looks to be a fun, detailed, and interesting build.

What does "ACC" stand for in your case?

To use the etched details for the cockpit I had to sand down all the amazing detail that was already there. This model is amazing but the detail isn’t exactly what the jets are looking like now, as far as the instrument panel. I’m still opting to use the eduard since they will look better than anything I can paint.

Thanks for looking! More to come...

Nathan T

this is an awesome kit! Too bad it doesn’t come with weapons. Looking forward to more!

that was the one thing that disappointed me about this kit. But I have a hasegawa kit with aim-9x’s and 120’s and sniper pods. I’m going to have this thing loaded for bear. I also bought the eduard detail kit for this thing. I don’t plan on using everything as this kit is already detailed enough.

Here we go! I couldn’t believe the level of detail this thing had when I finally set eyes on it. The videos I watched didn’t do it justice. You can actually see the individual fasteners that are used to fasten the panels. It’s absurd. Lol. Either way, I’m starting on the cockpit now. Pretty happy with the fit, only had to do minor sanding to get rid of a seam in the seat.

I have a hunch the kit is going to be great regardless of which decal set you choose. Yes

I do love the decals for the Kingsley jet. They are pretty sweet. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing that jet in person. I’m torn between doing those decals and the ones for my jet. Ill definitely be doing a WIP, I just need to figure out the image host thing.

You made me look (at it). I think the Oregon Guard scheme is really neat.

It'd be great if you get a new photo host and do a WIP.

I couldn’t contain myself. Once I stumbled upon this model and saw subsequent unboxings of it I just had to have it. The level of detail in this thing is ridiculous. I’m currently starting to paint my Tamiya Bf-109e. I was planning on building the Tamiya version of this jet, however, I found decals for 84-031 which is the wing kings jet here in Portland, and of which I am the ACC on that jet and wanted the highest level of detail possible to make the jet as realistic as I can. Stay tuned. I’ll be posting pics once I get going! As long as I can figure out how to post pics.
