As well as building a well detailed nice fitting Tamiya Mossie, i am also building a less detailed and slighlty less good fiting Blenheim from MPM.
I rather like MPM kits, as long as you expect you will have to clean up some flash and have a few fit issues, you won't be dissapointed. The dtail in the pit is nothing to get to excited about, there is a small PE fret but that is basic.
It did not take long to get it painted dry brushed and fitted. For this dio a needed some crew. I had hoped to use some Revell figures but they were to big. So i dug out the spares box and got a couple of what i think are old Airfix figures.
There is a bit of clean up needed on the seams, and then get the wings fitted.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

There is something pretty special about these older MPM kits. Back in the day, they were the only real source for aircraft that we’re not mainstream. I know you will make yours look excellent!

On deck: Who knows!
Thanks guys.
Clint, according to scalemates, it was released in 2001. Its based on the Mk IV they released the previous year.
MM, ye, your right. And some of the subjects they produced i still do think have been done more recently. I have a couple of their Me 262's that i think are still the only options for those variants.
You're off to a nice start. I did build this kit in Finnish markings years ago, and I've held off MPM kits ever since. Not a good experience in my book.
Thanks ole. I know they are not for everyone. There is some fit issues with the canopy and the wings need some filling. But now i have those on, there is not much left to add. have got to clean up the turret gun position a bit.
Time to wrap up the Blenheim. I just pushed ahead with this and 2 other builds that i wanted to get done before the end of the year. But i also had some issues painting the underside of this one, so once i sytarted painting i didn't take any more pics as i was just getting frustrated with it.
But first the pre painting pics i do have.
nd after this the problems started. One of the guys at our model club used salt for chipping on an all black Ju 88 nightfighter and the results were stunning. He has an article online which i followed but it just didn't work for me. After removing the salt was i left with loads of tiny flecks which i had to almost scrub off removing a lot of the paint in the process. A zsecond attempt proved slightly more successful. But then once i put the thin coat of pain on over it i had lots of tiny spots coming through the paint. My best gues sis that because i paint in the shed and at this time of year its cold and damp, the salt has absorbed water and left residue behind and no matter how many layers of paint i add it come through. So instead of a very lightly weathered new looking aircraft that i wanted the result is a very weather beaten un pleasent patchy look. Its not as bad as it was, but certainly not what i wanted, so i won't be trying it again. Especillay on the 2 German aircraft i will be building soon which both have black undesides and this was largely a trial for.
So once i cleaned it up as best i could, i finihsed it off with AM decals and light flory wash. I had wanted another groundcrewman, but once again i have been hit with a lack of figures. I may add one later if i can get hold of any.
Thanks for looking and following along.
That one looks great too!
How do you do the grass?

I agree, this one is just as beautiful as the other. Well done, Sir.

That’s a good point about the environmental effects on the salt. I’ve never really thought about that. But, you have taken a limited run kit and made it look fantastic!
Don Stauffer That one looks great too! How do you do the grass?
Thanks Don. I just spray on diluted white glue and scatter various scatter and flock materials. I have started useing one of those static devices, the ones made out of an electric fly swatter and a strainer. I quite like it.
MM, i had not thought about that either, and it might not have been, but i followed the process exactly and i can't think what else it could be. But, you never know until you try and i have found a way i think i can get a nice looking black.
