Hey FSM,
Here's one of my two entries into a Revellogram GB on another site. Man! This is a very basic kit with a simple breakdown and low parts count, but it fought me the whole way! The fit was terrible! Not only that, but the plastic was "rubbery" with some serious warping in the wings. No matter how much I tried to straighten out the twists, I couldn't get the parts to straighen out.
Because of the fit issues, there were some marathon fill-sand-repeat sessions. Most of the raised details was obliterated during the process, so I decided to rescribe the whole kit. There was no internal structure or backing to the intakes or exhausts, so the whole thing was "see-through." I decided to fix that with some tissue soaked in white glue and water. I made up my own intake and exhaust plugs. Everything else, besides Archer's resin for the rivets on the exhaust, some paper seatbelts, and hollowed-rod gun barrels, is plastic straight from the box.
I used MM and Testors enamels throughout. The decals are from Two Bobs and performed beautifully. All the photos I saw of real airframes showed that they were fairly well maintained and clean, so I kept weathering on my build to a minimum.
This is by no means a contest winner. Actually, it's not even my best effort. Still, it's a solid 3-footer and looks good on my shelf. There are a few more markings for other F-5s left on my decal sheet, but I don't know if I'll be building another one of these...
Anyway, here are some pictures of my second for the year. Enjoy!
And the glory shot...
