For the last year or so I have been building on/off an old Monogram F-80C kit. I work on it for a little while then put it all back in the box and move onto something else. This kit just doesn't get me excited. Raised panel lines don't bother me but the plastic is kinda mushy, too flexible, I guess. That's sad because I think the F-80 is a neat airplane. Kinda stylish. The only other 1/48 scale F-80 out there is the Hobby Boss kit. I've read a couple of reviews of the kit and even downloaded the instructions from Scalemates. One reviewer had issues that are really not difficult to work around. Like the too round intakes and fiddley pieces like the ejection seat and the gun sight. The reviewer also had an issue with the wing to fuselage fit but quickly came up with a work-around. So, who has built the Hobby Boss F-80 recently? Would you build it again? Would you recommend the kit to a friend? Just wondering. Thanks.

I know you specifically asked about the F-80 but if you’re interested in the T-33 both Great Wall Hobby and Academy have excellent 1 48 kits. I haven’t built the HobbyBoss F-80 but have read good things and the intake shape is basically subjective.
Haven't built any of the -80's. But ran across a tidbit a couple of years ago.
Rex Barber once flew a P-80 under both bridges (highway and rail) that span the Crooked River between Redmond and Madras, OR. He was from Culver, OR just a few miles up the road. Both bridges stand today, and the canyon makes a sharp turn just past the rail bridge. Canyon is narrow and deep right there.
Barber was in the flight that shot down Yamamoto in WWII.

Thanks, Nathan. I do have two Hobby Craft T-33 kits, one with tip-tanks and one without. They're still sitting in the stash. The next time I see a Hobby Boss F-80, I'll probably go ahead and bring it home. I know I'm not going to finish this Monogram kit.
Goldhammer, one of the pilots of that mission lived not far from me in Casselberry, FL. I have forgotten his name. He passed some years ago.
