They gotta be CRAZY!!
Posted by mandrake on Saturday, April 3, 2004 4:11 PM
I have been trying to get this model since a long time a go, and there it was standing on the shelf, big and shiny, like waiting for me... it was the 1/48 Revell-Germany B-24D, i run for the door, and all excited get the box, amazed by the drawings start reading over and over the same things, then, i finally make up my mind and ask the guy on the store about the price of it.... then a nasty silence.... he looks at me and thinks.... and finally after what seemed to be a long wait he answers "cuesta 950 pesos (the price is $94bucks) and i am like WHAT!!! 94 BUCKS FOR THAT MODEL! YOU GOTTA BE CRAZY!! i dont know if here in Mexico someone may pay 94 bucks for such a model but of course i wont! i rather get it somewhere else...... Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]

have you ever been in a situation like this??
regards
Hector.

I had the same thing happen. I was gonna pick up the Tamiya F-15 in like 1991 in Seoul but they wanted like 120000 won which was well over a 100 bucks at the time so i decided to let it go. Well its 2004 and I still havent bought it. I still need to finish the Tam F-14 I bought when it was released. When was that 86?

94 bucks? I could buy two of them for that kinda money here. Can't you get it at squadron or something like that? They have it for a little more than 30 bucks. http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=RG4529

Just order it from Great Models or Squadron. If your LHS is so crazy as to ask that then they will most likely not be around for long. They are even going for reasonable prices on ebay right now.

That particular model is on the list at greatmodels.com for $26.00.

Take a look.

I agree, they're crazy ! Maybe the owner has come up short on his rent payment or somethin' ! We had (notice HAD) a hobby shop like that in my area. He was always 10-20% higher than any other shop around. You wonder what he was thinking. Anyway, he's gone, his inventory got bought up by the other shops and sold at much reduced prices ! Guess us modelers got the last laugh after all !!

hey mandrake;
try greatmodels.com , or squadron.com because the kits are going for about $30.00 US and they'll even send it to your door, also I've been getting Historic Aviation Catalogs and hey have them for $29.95 + S&H, so check them out if you really want the kit and it's Revell Germany too

Hector,

Isn't the price marked on the kits, or do customers have to *request* the price? It sounds like he was trying to capitalize on your excitement, by the "Thinking" and the "long wait"! If it were me, I think I'd find some girl with an incredibly sexy voice, to call that hobby shop up sometime, and in her *best* voice, ask if he has a 1/48 Revell-Germany B-24D! You might end up getting it for around $15 then!!! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Cool [8D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Take care,
Frank
