Hi,

I think that the Buffalo/Brewster/Sky Pearl is a fascinating airplane too, and your build turned out great.  Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Not an aircraft I’ve ever been interested in, but your example looks fantastic. Your paint and finishing really set it apart, as do the markings you’ve chosen. Thanks for sharing, especially the story of the pilot.

Great build Grant. Always amazed me how the Buffalo was so bad according to the USN but in the hands of the Finns it did wonders

That turned out nice.  I really like the black under the white.  Just about to start my 1/48 Tamiya Buffalo in British markings which I recieved from this years secret santa.  Hope mine comes out 1/2 as nice as this one!

Thanks,

John

Very nice. I assume it has been finished as winterised in service by roughly spraying white over the camouflage. Contrary to popular belief, it was actually possible to shoot down other aircraft flying a Buffalo. It just didn't happen very often. A couple of Aussies managed to become aces flying Buffaloes against the Japanese in Malaya, but they were the exception

In the queue: 1/48 Beech Staggerwing (RAAF), P38 (RAAF), Vultee Vengeance (RAAF), Spitfire Vb (Malta), Spitfire VIII x2 (RAAF), P39 x2 (RAAF), Martin Baltimore (Malta?), Martin Maryland (Malta), Typhoon NF1b, Hellcat x2 (FAA)

I love the Buffalo, and  I love Finnish schemes, so a win win for me. A good kit, a few fit issues, but nothing major.

Luutnanti Hans Wind, CO of 1/LLV 24, Suulajarvi airfield, April, 1943. Wind's total kills was 75, 39 of them in a Buffalo, making him top scoring ace in a Buffalo, and the best Finnish pilot of all.

Painted with Gunze, Tamiya, Vallejo acrylics. Vallejo metal colour, Mig white wash camo, Clay wash, pigment, AK enamel wash, Vallejo matte varnish.
