1:48 F-16 DG/DJ Fighting Falcon by Italeri

Hello,

I just finished the 1:48 airfix Hawker Hurricane, i forgot to create a post on the forum while progressing through the build, if anyone would like to see that i do have the pictures for it.

Back on to the topic, The 1:48 F16 2 seater..

I started on the cockpit earlier today and it seems like a good kit, although it does appear there will be some fitment issues here and there, hopefully its not as much as it might appear at this point.

I have ordered a set of the new AK real colors for aircraft, perfect timing to release them as i was not sure where i was going to get the paints for this aircraft. They will be delivered in 4 days..

The cockpit was simple to put togheter, with a surprising ammount of parts, which is not really typical for a cockpit in this scale, but it does make it easier to paint, and more parts is just fun.

As i have mentioned before, i am still very much a beginner to this hobby and highly appreciate all constructive feedback!

Pva glue to give the instruments a glossy/screen like finish

I will try to keep you updated while i am building for once.

Lars

Hello!

Welcome to the forums, and you know what they say... "This thread is worthless without pictures"... Or at least I would very much like to see some. Also, I see no point of asking about the Hurricane - either you want to share the pictures, then post them, or don't mention them.

Now with Italeri you never know how it's going to be. Most of the time they are somewhere in the middle - not so bad and not so good either. With some real flops and science fiction models on one side, and beautiful gems on the other side (not so often).

Good luck with your builds and have a nice day

Paweł

All comments and critique welcomed. Thanks for your honest opinions!

Nice cockpit painting! Is this a re-box of the Kinetic kit?

Even though i dont have a whole lot of time to build at the moment, i have made some more progress. The aircraft is almost completely assembeled except for weapons and landing gear, which will be fitted after painting to make everything easier for my self.

The kit was fun to put togheter, but also a lot more work than anticipated. The majority of the parts had to be modified, sanded or cut to fit onto the kit. Especially difficult was the air intake under the cockpit, which simply seemed poorly engineered, i spent a lot of time getting it to fit, and even after that it still had some pretty nasty gaps. If you want to build this kit you will need a decent amount of filler, i also used styrene glue in some areas. But it does look great when its put togheter!

There was a nasty seam line running across the cockpit glass, i sanded it down with 3000 grit tamiya sanding sponge and polished with tamiyas finishing compound.

OOO beautiful work so far. Either the kit isn't as bad as you say it was or you've done exemplary work in hiding all the flaws. I think it's the latter. looking forward to more.

I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.

As a big fan of the Falcon, I only have 23 in the stash, you are doing an excellent job.

Thank you Johnny, i appreciate it!

I have put togheter most of the pieces and finished the paintwork, its now ready for a clear coat and decals.

Exhaust painted with AK extreme metal dark aluminium and sealed with ak shine enhancer.

Primed with mr surfacer 1000

Pre-shading with vallejo model color black, i thin model color with flow improver from vallejo, as i find it works much better than ordinary thinner.

Landing gear mounted and paintwork finished with the new range of ak interactive real colors for aircraft
