BF110G-4 paint scheme help

The IV is nothing to do with the Geschwader. The I should indicate the Staffel and the V is the individual aircraft letter. C9 is the code for NJG 5. 12/NJG 5 was formed from a unit in NJG 4 but noth the other way around. It does seem as though its made up.

I do have a set of B-17 markings that are supposed to be of an aircraft with the 96th BG. When i chekced the serial number that belongs to a transport aircraft, a C-54 i think. So wouldn't be the first time.

I can't find the a/c in question, but will most likely go with 74/75 for the upper colors.

Actually the text of the instructions says the plane is from NJG 4 (which I think is where the roman 4 comes in), but the painting guide says NJG 5, which is one of the main reasons why I think the scheme is wrong (attention to detail is poor).

The fuselage code is C9 IV, and the serial is 730066.  Based on the other scheme in the manual, I think the upper colors are RLM 75/74, and they just forgot the 75 on that page.

I’m pretty sure the black on top is not right. It should be RLM 74.

Maybe, google the Serial number on the tail along with NJG 5 and see if that scheme comes up. Don’t see many Bf110s with Roman numerals on the side. I can’t read the number in your post.

When I first looked at the photo you posted I guess I misread the key yeah that really don't look right, not saying it isn't anyway here are a few for a G4

German night fighters generally used the RLM 74/75/76 scheme of the day fighter. Initially at the start of night fighting they were all over black, but experience and testing actually showed that grey and light blue shades worked better and so the 1941 day scheme was adopted, but night fighter squadrons were allowed a lot of leeway over paint schemes. You should spend time looking at photos of these aircraft to get the idea and feel of the schemes.

The RAF Museumat Hendon in London has a G4 night fighter on display and you should look at pictures of that.
