1/32 lancaster

I am a long way from starting as I need the AM guys to release their stuff for this kit, especially the fuselage interior and I am keeping my eyes open on the websites of my usual suspects for AM detailing.

I do feel that you, Toshi, would enjoy this kit, but it does take up some space and is on the expensive side!

This first release with the clear fuselage gives the opportunity for so many different display options which is why with these kits you need to start with a clear idea of just how you want the finished thing to look like and work back!

What he means is that each wing, port and starboard are one piece mouldings instead of two halves.

Good evening modelers, finally have got to the point of attaching engines to one wing assembely, wah lah, there are not wing halves, they are one peice. I wondered why no call outs for the wings. thats amazing...to me. 

A 1/32nd scale Lancaster with a one-piece wing?? That's gotta be one HEAVY wing!!

I am developing major plans for this build and I am just waiting for Eduard and the rest to catch up.

As a taster here is a nice bit of detail to go onto the engines

I just have to figure out how to paint the lettering in red!

I also intend to mask and paint the insignia roundels and squadron codes etc I have some MRP paint on the way and I will test them against the BS colour codes.

I would like to add "plumbing" to the gun turrets so if anyone has schematics for those then I would be delighted. I also already have Master's Barrel set for this kit for the Brownings.

I am also looking at camouflage masks for the upper surface.

HGW have announced a seatbelt set, Eduard have a masking set and cockpit set due next month as well as a steel seatbelt set.

It will be built this year and I will post the build on here, but I am not sure of my start date.

I always start these builds with a very good idea of how I want the finished thing and work backwards. The main thing will be to mix the clear and grey fuselage. Grey on the port and clear on the starboard. Some of the clear will be painted over and I will be using NATO black rather than "proper" black as that is a much closer rendition of the "Night" that they used.

I still have to do paint colour tests but the main interior and exterior colours will be Vallejo as those are chipset accurate.

The trick with using half clear fuselages etc is to hide the interior joins etc such as the floor to the clear side and that is to paint from the underside up to that level. etc. There will be lots of masking tape used on this build!

I am hoping to be able to get down to the BBMF on a quiet day and if possible use the veteran card to have a chat with the ground crew about the interior paint job as the recent rebuild/refit included original Air Ministry paint orders.

I will also be working from copies of original maintainance manuals etc. If anyone knows of any detail sets then post or PM me with the details.

My Lancaster arrives today! Finally and the delay has been caused by Parcelforce managing to lose the large box for 10 days and then Border Farce messing about!

sent by HK Models themselves on a 5 day delivery on 17th January. Handed to Parcel force at Guanghzou airport after clearing Customs the same day.

Delivered 7th February!

Seeing as Razorbacks won't post any photos, I will do a complete photo shoot of the box contents and review for you all.
