I just saw these yesterday. The folks at Lakenheath painted this up for the 75th anniversary. I'm glad I didn't build my kit yet!
That is a great scheme and will look good in any scale. Looking forward in watching you build it.

Man, I just get chills thinking of the A-10 kicking ass back in 1944!
Sorry...forgive an old man his wild imaginations
S'alright, it comes with a great pedigree:

I have never been in the armed services, but aren't there regulations around painting aircraft? Or are these guys free to paint whatever they want on the aircraft? Seems there are a lot of 'special paint jobs' done.

These special schemes will be done on the orders of the higher ups. Marking historical events and remembering those who wore the uniform before us is very impoirtant to those in the forces.
If you look at the post by catel, you can see what lengths are gone to to remember those from the past, especially the fallen.
The red and white pattern on the nose seems to be that of the 339th FG.
Totally inauthentic. The stripes for multi-engine are 24", not 18".
I think those look swell!

Your not kidding, will have to keep eyes open for that.
My brother was at Selfridge 2 years ago as a Security Forces officer in the ANG then transfered over to the Alpena CRTC last year so he wouldn't have to drive to Detroit and back on his Guard weekends. Of course he travels alot for the MSP anyways. LOL
