Need Some After Market For Monogram A-10
Posted by CharleyGnarlyP290 on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 10:56 PM

I am finally going to tackle the Monogram 1/48 A-10 Thinderbolt II I have had since the late '90s. It was a gift from my pop and I want to do it up right.

I want to do an '80s European scheme on it so I want to find some decent decals from that time frame. I also want to getsome detail stuff for it: maybe some photo etch; a resin seat; wheels; just about anything I can find.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for some of this stuff? My Google search hasn't produced much yet.

I believe the pattern was Europe/Euro One. If I recall properly that was the same pattern we used on the C130s I was flying in the mid-90's before everything went to Airlift Grey

Thanks. I thought that is what the scheme was called but didn't want to sound like a dope!

Yup, the 80’s era scheme was called Europe One. When first into service they wore MASK A-10, which was similar to the current Ghost Grays worn since the 90s.

Scalemates has a good list of what’s out there for that kit. Verlinden made a great update set for that kit, but since they are OOP, you’ll have to pay such prices if you can find it.

A Verlinden cockpit set on eBay right now: Here

But, it's pricy. Good luck with your search.

IIRC, the Revell boxing has the camo scheme in the instruction sheet, and I think decals for a couple assigned over the pond.  Someone here might have the paint guide out of that sheet.

If near a Hobby Lobby I think they still carry it, and the 40% off will make it reasonable if needed.

Thanks everyone... some really great info!

And hogfanfs, although kind of pricey, that looks really good. I am leaning that direction right now.

And goldhammer, I see that kit all of the time at HL. I may pick it up for extra parts and newer decals. I'll test some from my kit first though to see if they are ok.
