Airfix Viggen help?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, April 5, 2004 6:26 PM
I've just acquired the TwoBobs decals for the Viggen (1/48), and am wondering if anyone knows of any aftermarket cockpit sets available for the Airfix kit? Also, does anyone have any experience with this kit and/or these decals? Thanks!

just picked it up myself
Definitely a Heller re box.
No luck on eduard's site.
I think this kit has been off the market for quite a while and would be surprised if there was anything on the market yet - nothing on hannants site in 1/48th scale either

Don't have any resources for that kit myself, but let me know what you think of the kit itself, as I've been interested in it myself!! BTW, Semper Fi to you as well!!! Are you active duty, or inactive?

The Airfix 1/48 Viggen is actually the Italeri 1/48 Viggen, which, in turn, is actually the ESCI 1/48 Viggen! The good news is that the basic shapes are OK, and that it's cheap and readily available, so it makes the basis of a good superdetailing project. The bad news is that it has Airfix decals, so you'll need to find, and factor in the cost of, an aftermarket set. Oh, I see you've already got the decals!
Cute and cuddly, boys, cute and cuddly!

Thanks again for all the replies. Swanny, thanks to you for the lead on the resin parts.
kik- I have been off of active duty for 6 years now, but is any Marine really inactive? We just change uniforms is all. I was a CH-53 mechanic... you?

Thanks again for the replies.

It seems that IPMS Austria is taking subscriptions to make another cockpit by themselves. I saw this at http://www.rebell.com , a Swedish shop but you should see the estimated price ( it's frightening )

Thank you all for coming José

Hey kik - good to go. I was with HMH-366, the Hammerheads from Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. The squadron's no more, but it was a great time. I just happened to see threee -53E's fly over a few days ago... still impressive as ever!

Cool, I had a friend named Luna who was stationed out there (He was on Deltas though). I was out there on West Pac in '97, very beautiful base!!! I loved having the flightline so close to the water, it was amazing.....of course we had to dip a few people in the bay, and the firehoses used for washes were way better than our chinsy garden hoses in the states!!! Welcome to our community, and good luck on your Viggen, I look forward to checking out some pics!!! In case you can't tell, I'm a bit interested in Saabs all together.
