Hello friends. Finished this wonderful Airfix gem for Bish’s Airfix GB. There were some initial fit issues that required some degree of surgery but all in all I would recommend this kit for anyone wanting to build this British speed machine! Thank you for looking.

Thank you very much! Yes those pylons are definitely the most unique feature.
I like your overall finishing. Looks good.
You sir do a fantastic job/finish on this build.

Thanks guys! I really do appreciate your kind words!
Great looking build Chad. Sure is a good looking bird - and yes those tanks on top of the wing is thinking outside the box!
Thanks,
John
That is nice. I had the 1/48 in my stash but ended up giving it to Fermis so that it would be built right. It was!
My understanding is that those tanks were a fit for long range ferry flights, and they were rarely used.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Thank you gentlemen. I really appreciate the kind words! I didn't know that about the fuel tanks. Makes perfect sense.
That's a really clean build. Subtle weathering and a great finish on a really neat bird. Looks like something a 1950s sci fi artist would come up with. Retro futuristic!
One other feature that was pretty unusual is the arrangement of the two engines. One on top of the other.
There's a saying that Lightning pilots only went supersonic in the direction of fuel. Of course that's not really true, as it's mission was to dash North and intercept Blinders in the Arctic. But it woudn't go Mach 2.2 with those tanks on. Pretty much a one-way trip.
