WOW!  Very nice. How did you do the panel lines?

Thanks Johnny.  I used Tamiya Panel Liner (Brown).   After a little post shading and the decals were set, I sprayed the entire kit with Mr. Super Clear Gloss.  When that fully cured, I used the fine brush included with the panel liner and touched each panel line and the liner flowed smoothly through each panel line. After about 15 minutes, I wiped down the model with odorless Turpenoid to remove any excess liner.

From one who thinks the 109 is the preeminent fighter AC of WWII, your build is very nicely done Chad.

Thank you very much!

Looks great! I really like the subtle chipping and the weathering overall.

Well, I’ve been perfectly happy with my Hobbycraft and old Airfix 109s. So the new Airfix Emil sounds good to me. Plus with the wing armament option gives me an idea for a modification of another 109 in my stash...

Greg - Thank you!

Theuns - Some of these Airfix kiTX that are dated in the mid to late 2000’s still have the old Airfix decals. This one was dated 2009 So it must’ve been while they were still transitioning to the Cartograph gems!

Stik -  When it comes to engineering, it certainly isn’t as basic as the Tamiya kit but certainly not as intricate as the Eduard kit. That being said, you’re not going to get the beautiful rivet detail, cockpit detail, and finely molded pieces that you would with the Eduard offering.  But, at the end of the day, it seriously is a fun kit to build.

I just complimented this little gem over on the Airfix GB thread. Beautiful work sir! Aside from the decals ( I pretty much tend to use AM decals anyways), how was the kit itself? I’m really thinking hard about getting one of these new Airfix Emil’s due to the engineering options compared to Eduard.

Nice paint job.

Interesting that the decals were so horrible. the new airfix stuff I have built has had nice thin decals that seat down well.

Wow, excellent work. I love this scheme so much. I have a Tamiya kit for this scheme as well. If I can make it look half this good I'm golden. Well done.

Hello friends! Here’s one fresh off the bench. If you’re looking for a decent 1/48 109, this is a good kit. If you’re looking for an excellent 1/48 109, stick with the Eduard line. The decals were absolute garbage and each one needed to be set with Tamiya extra thin cement. Thank you for looking!
