Hasegawa/AMT 1/72 Scale F-100D...
Posted by fotofrank on Thursday, May 16, 2019 11:36 AM

I guess I have a penchant for old kits. I certainly build a lot of them. I guess this kit is from the mid-70's. I got it at an auction. The kit came in a freezer bag with no decals for a dollar. It was a fun build. The kit went together fast with no real fit issues. I'm not a jet kinda guy so this build was quite a departure for me. The paint is Alclad Aluminum and Alclad Dark Aluminum. The decals are a very old Microscale sheet of F-100 decals. When new, the decals were only $2.00. Some of the decals broke up pretty bad but perseverance and Micro Sol saved the day. The aircraft depicted is an F-100D of the 21 TFW, circa 1958. The stand is an Aurora kit stand from Cult TV Man, I think.

I love kits in a bag. They've been some of the most enjoyable!

Very nice work on her!

That turned out great. Really like the outdoor pictures.

I photograph my finished models in the shade of a palm tree in the back yard since I don't have a studio set-up of any kind. I prefer natural light.

I'm really impressed with how this F-100 built up. The finished model makes a really nice display. I think I may have to build some more early jets.

Thanks, Don. I really like using the Alclad paints. The finish is so nice.
