My first sea plane, as usual Hobby Boss, have delivered a great build that is also quick.

First time ever, I broke the canopy right down the middle when masking it, it was very thin. So I compromised, glued and filled the crack, and now it has 2 metal panels on top, that will do the job for me, I'm not chasing another canopy.

Also tried some "salt" techniques, but I think it may be to subtle in areas, and maybe to stark on the aluminium float, but over all pretty happy with it.

Insignia is painted, so no decals, and I added rivet details to the floats, as it looks like Hobby Boss have just added the float plane parts sprue to the kit, but the floats have no rivet details like the rest of the kit.

Camo is Mission Models, I think these colours are spot on and it is great paint to use. Also used Tamiya and Vallejo metal colour, Flory dark dirt wash and Vallejo matte varnish

I agree, those colors look spot on. And that replaced float looks amazing. The salt technique gives it that "corrosive elements" look. Very nice. I dig the catfish. Very will done indeed.

Now that's a fine job on the painting/weathering as well as the build in general. I'm going to have to attempt more techniques in the finishing (painting/weathering) dept.

How did you go about the finishing on this kit? Would you describe what techniques you used to get the end result?

Thanks,

Mike

I used the salt technique, there are tutorials on it online, this was my first attempt, so I am no expert, it turned out Ok, but  I think I could have made it more contrasted on the blue/grey. And the last weathering was Flory Model Dark Dirt Wash which gets in the rivets and seam lines
